Packing & Unpacking

Pack day done right. Unpack day done for you.

Two of the most stressful days of any move are pack day and unpack day. Most families don't have time. Most downsizers can't physically lift the boxes. Acorn's pack-and-unpack service takes both off your plate. Same crew that's doing the move does the pack and unpack — no rotating strangers in the kitchen.

  • Full pack: every box, every cupboard, every drawer
  • Partial pack: just the kitchen, just the fragile, just the wardrobes
  • Unpack-and-place: beds made, kettle plugged in, ready to live in by 4pm
  • All boxes, padding, packing paper and wrap supplied
  • Fragile and high-value handling (art, antiques, pianos, wine)
  • Itemised list with photos for downsizers and renovation pack-and-store

What a pack day looks like

We arrive the day before move day with the boxes and materials. Pack the kitchen, wardrobes, lounge, bedrooms, bathrooms — everything. Label every box by room. By the end of pack day, the home is ready to load straight into the truck the next morning.

What an unpack day looks like

Unpack day starts as soon as the last box is in. We unpack, place items in the right cupboards and wardrobes, make the beds, plug in the TV and kettle. By 4pm you’ve got a home — not a house full of cardboard.

Who needs pack-and-unpack most

  • Downsizers (Margaret persona) — physically can’t lift boxes, emotionally can’t sort 32 years of stuff alone.
  • Premium movers (Whitfield persona) — paying for white-glove. Need it done right, including art and wine.
  • Renovation pack-and-store (Tania persona) — itemised inventory, photo of every box, climate-controlled storage between phases.
  • Stressed-out families (Sarah & Tom persona) — both work full-time, two kids, no bandwidth.

FAQs

Packing & Unpacking — frequently asked questions

  • Do you bring all the packing materials?

Yes — boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, blankets, mattress covers and tape are all included. No need to source any of it yourself.

  • How long does a full pack take?

A 3-bed home usually packs in one day with two crew. A 4-bed or downsizer move from a 30-year family home is often two days because of the volume to sort and label.

  • Can you just unpack at the new home — not pack at the old?

Yes. Lots of customers self-pack but want help on the other end. Unpack service includes placing items, making beds, plugging in TVs and basic kitchen setup.

  • Do you handle fragile and high-value items?

Yes — art, antiques, pianos, wine cellars, wedding china. Higher insurance limits available for premium items. Specialist crating on request.

  • How much does packing cost?

Partial packs (kitchen + wardrobes) typically add $300–$700. Full packs add $800–$2,500 depending on home size. Quoted upfront, fixed.
