Rubbish Removal

What doesn't fit in the new home doesn't have to be your problem.

When a 4-bed family home becomes a 2-bed unit, or 32 years of an empty-nester's accumulated stuff has to fit in a downsized retirement-village apartment, there's always a pile that won't make the move. Acorn handles that pile. We sort, donate where possible, recycle where possible, and tip the rest — so you don't have to make 11 trips to the dump in the rental car.

  • Pairs naturally with downsizer and deceased-estate moves
  • We sort: donate, recycle, tip
  • Charity drop-offs (Vinnies, Salvos, Lifeline) where items can be re-homed
  • Tip fees included in the quote
  • Same crew that's doing your move handles the cleanup
  • No hourly billing — fixed quote per load

When rubbish removal pairs with a move

  • Downsizer moves. Margaret-style 32-year family home → 2-bed coastal townhouse. The pile of stuff that won’t fit goes to Vinnies, recycling and the tip on the same day as the move.
  • Retirement-village moves. Helen & Beverly downsizing into a small unit at Bayside, Bupa or Anglicare. Saves the family multiple weekend trips to the dump in the rental car.
  • Renovation pack-and-store. Tania renovations always generate a pile of stuff that doesn’t go back in. We can clear it as part of the move-back-in.
  • Deceased estates. Family is grieving, doesn’t have bandwidth to clear a 30-year home. Acorn handles it with patience.

What we don’t do

  • Hazardous materials (asbestos, chemicals, batteries) — these need a specialist.
  • Massive renovation debris (concrete, demolition rubble) — that’s a skip-bin job.
  • Tree work, garden waste — green-waste contractors do that better.

FAQs

Rubbish Removal — frequently asked questions

  • Do you sort or just dump everything?

We sort. Donate-able furniture goes to Vinnies, Salvos or Lifeline. Recyclables go to recycling. Tip waste goes to the tip. Fewer items going to landfill, lower tip fees, better outcome.

  • How is this different from a skip bin?

A skip bin is empty space — you do the lifting, sorting and loading. We do all of that. Particularly important for downsizers who physically can't lift the boxes. Same crew that's doing your move handles the cleanup as part of the same day.

  • How much does rubbish removal cost?

Quoted per load after a quick walk-through. A typical downsizer cleanup runs $400–$1,200 depending on volume. Deceased estate cleanups can run higher. All-in fixed quote including tip fees.

  • Do you handle deceased estates?

Yes. We've cleared out 30-year family homes after a passing, sorted what the family wants to keep, donated what's still useful, recycled where possible, and tipped the rest. Sensitive, patient, professional.

  • Are tip fees included?

Yes — tip fees are included in the fixed quote. No surprises.
